Thanks to significant progresses in technical design and software performance, UV-R oven can provide energy-resource savings which can reach up to 30% compared to traditional systems.

 

UV-R integrates in one module all process components: conveyor, UV lamps and an advanced PLC that controls all operations and diagnostics, with a user-friendly touch-screen programmer, allowing an easy management of all functionalities:

 

  • the application of a control unit on transformer ensures efficient power management, enabling savings of about 10% compared to standard solid state supply;
  • the electronic lamps control optimizes lamps power delivery and consumption according to the manufacturing flow: in case of a production gap  - with pieces not running on the line from a minimum of 2 sec (short stop) up to a maximum of 20 min (long stop) -  the lamps in the oven will automatically turn from the standard working power of 80-100 W/cm2 down to about 35 W/cm2; for stop times longer than 20min the unit will automatically switch off.

 

Test done so far on working painting lines show the following results:

-short stops: energy saving about 20%

-long stops: energy saving about 30%

 

 

To give a practical example, a traditional line with 12 UV lamps would have a power consumption of about 180.000 kWh/year. With UV-R oven in production at same conditions we would reach a power consumption range from 125.000 to 145.000 kWh/year – which means an Energy Saving potential from 35.000 up to 55.000 kWh/year.
